HiperDRIL High-performance WBM Technology

n  Technical Introduction

HiperDRIL High-performance WBM Technology introduces polyamine high-performance water-based drilling fluid, primarily designed for drilling in active shale wells. It excels in addressing challenges such as wellbore instability, shale and clay swelling, dispersion, and bit balling, particularly in complex wells like ERD (Extended Reach Drilling) and long displacement horizontal wells.

n  Technical Features

( 1 )   Environmental Compliance: Suitable for use in areas with stringent environmental regulations, offering a viable alternative to oil-based drilling fluids.

( 2 )   Wellbore Stabilization: The UHIB polyamine inhibitor stabilizes shale-dominated wellbores by reducing the space within the clay crystal layer, inhibiting clay hydration and expansion. This effectively mitigates issues like bit balling and BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly) balling.

( 3 )   Cuttings Management: The VISPLUS polymer forms an emulsified and encapsulated protective film on clay surfaces, preventing drill cuttings aggregation and blockage of shaker screens, thus ensuring efficient cuttings management.

( 4 )   Anti-Sloughing and Lubrication: The GLYCOL polyol anti-sloughing inhibitor induces the cloud point effect to form a hydrophobic oil film on clay surfaces. This film enhances anti-sloughing inhibition, improves lubrication, stabilizes the wellbore by blocking micro-pores, and reduces interfacial tension, thereby protecting oil and gas reservoirs.

n  Application

The technology has been successfully deployed in numerous oilfields operated by CNOOC. It effectively stabilizes the wellbore, minimizes downhole complications, ensures integrity of drill cuttings, stabilizes drilling fluid rheology, reduces Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD), and prevents drilling fluid discharge on the shakers. Overall, it enhances drilling efficiency and performance.
